While detailing a Beechcraft Duke undergoing pre buy inspection, we were called upon to freshen the look of the de-ice boots. The mains, vertical and horizontal stabs were all treated to this aircraft specific treatment. Regardless of the de-ice system your aircraft is equipped with, we are trained in the proper care. As I was washing a couple of aircraft for a client I was again reminded of the importance of safety around planes. There are the usual damage concerns when working on a vehicle be it planes or cars. But the more prevalent concerns that come to mind are those of pilot and passenger safety. Great care is taken to avoid damaging any of the flight systems that keep these birds in the air. I am grateful to those who have mentored me in how to work on and around aircraft. The risks are very real and should never be taken lightly.
With the recent cold temperatures, I was called out to touch up this Cessna 206. The hangar that it is stored in had a frozen pipe that thawed and flooded. A quick wash and wax restored it to a show quality shine.
